Roche Diagnostics, the diagnostic business unit of F. Hoffmann-La Roche, and Japanese diagnostics company Sysmex have expanded their existing global business partnership agreement.

As part of the updated framework, the companies reaffirm their commitment to their long-standing collaboration.

The expanded agreement includes the renewal of the non-exclusive total laboratory solution collaboration agreement for projects where customers want to buy products for clinical chemistry, immunochemistry, and haematology testing from a single vendor.

It also includes the eco-social collaboration agreement to jointly foster more sustainable diagnostic solutions for addressing social issues.

Both companies intend to pursue more sustainable solutions by expanding their long-standing relationship beyond the current portfolio.

Sysmex and Roche have agreed to broaden the scope of their collaboration to include products, sales, and services, along with the development of a circular resource value chain in the in vitro diagnostics domain to deliver greater value to customers in laboratories.

Roche Diagnostics CEO Matt Sause said: “We are delighted to expand our 25-year partnership with Sysmex in the area of haematology and in exploring more sustainable diagnostics solutions.

“Roche and Sysmex both have a long-standing history of delivering reliable and innovative solutions for patients and I am very happy to see this collaboration grow.”

Switzerland-based Roche and Sysmex began their commercial and R&D collaboration in 1998 and have since expanded their partnership.

To further develop their relationship and improve client experience, the two organisations inked a global business relationship agreement in 2020.

The latest 2023 agreement with renewed terms and expanded scope confirms the partnership of both firms and their commitment to a more sustainable future for society.

Sysmex president Kaoru Asano said: “Developing our partnerships in the field of diagnostics even further and addressing enduring eco-social challenges represents a significant milestone in advancing our alliance to the next level.

“Together, we firmly believe in making even greater contributions to our customers in laboratories and creating a sustainable society.”
