Healthcare technology company Clario has partnered with Swiss medical technology company Sleepiz to jointly bring sleep and respiratory data collection features to clinical trials.

The partnership intends to generate new data endpoints via a patient-centric and unobtrusive monitoring approach with a focus on precise and longitudinal data points.

Under the collaboration, Clario will offer its customers additional endpoints for their clinical studies using Sleepiz’s advanced technology to support the development of a more detailed understanding of patients’ sleep and respiratory conditions.

Sleepiz’s contactless sleep monitoring devices record a wide variety of physiological characteristics, such as breathing rate, sleep patterns, pulse rate, and body movements to deliver a full picture of a patient’s sleep health.

The approach will also provide an opportunity for researchers and clinicians to better understand the impact of their methodology on sleep-related diseases, respiratory health, and the course of diseases, said Clario.

Clario electronic clinical outcome assessments (eCOA) EVP Terry Burke said: “At Clario, we are consistently looking for ways to increase the data we are able to collect from clinical trials and the value we bring to our customers and their patients.

“Our partnership with Sleepiz AG enables us to delve deeper into the under-researched areas of sleep and respiratory health, offering a broader and more sophisticated view of the effects of a new medicine. It is an exciting step forward in our ability to turn scientific expertise in to certainty in data collection.”

Clario and Sleepiz’s joint solution is currently in a trial for a pharmaceutical client.

Sleepiz CEO Soumya Dash said: “We are thrilled to offer researchers new possibilities to study and interpret sleep and respiratory data points together with Clario.

“Ultimately, this strengthens our shared vision to improve patient’s lives by empowering research with critical insights into sleep and respiratory health.”
