Sequencing solutions provider PacBio has launched a versatile Nanobind DNA extraction kit, PanDNA, for high-fidelity (HiFi) optimised DNA extraction solutions.

PanDNA is designed to expand the array of sample types suitable for long-read sequencing, including cells, bacteria, tissue, blood, plant nuclei, and insects.

The nanobind kits are intended for researchers to effectively extract high molecular weight DNA from a variety of sample types.

According to PacBio, these kits are flexible and support high-throughput (Nanobind CBB HT kit) and manual (Nanobind PanDNA kit) configurations.

Their quick and easy-to-use protocol works with platforms from automation suppliers that are compatible with PacBio.

Additionally, the current high-throughput extraction Nanobind HT CBB kit will now accept up to 96 samples per run and handle two additional sample types including animal blood and bacteria.

It is anticipated that the new PanDNA kit will be shipped and available for purchase in February 2024.

PacBio chief commercial officer Jeff Eidel said: “The new PanDNA kit will be the go-to kit for extracting DNA optimised for HiFi sequencing.

“We continue to enable our customers with products such as the PanDNA kit that support researchers to complete accurate genome assemblies, identify structural variants, and explore complex biological systems in extraordinary detail using our Revio sequencing system.”

PacBio designs, develops, and manufactures advanced sequencing solutions for genetically complex problems.

The company’s product portfolio is based on HiFi long-read sequencing and SBB short-read sequencing technologies.

Garvan Institute of Medical Research genomic technologies lab research assistant Igor Stevanovski said: “Nanobind high molecular weight DNA extraction is a game-changer for us and having one universal kit for all supported samples is very convenient.

“The flexibility offered by the PanDNA kit will support our broad research community to answer those key questions and make important biological discoveries.”
