American technology company Oracle is adding new mobile capabilities to Oracle Fusion Cloud Inventory Management to help healthcare organisations improve their inventory management.

Oracle Fusion Cloud Inventory Management is part of Oracle Fusion Cloud Supply Chain & Manufacturing (SCM). The new capabilities are expected to assist healthcare firms in lowering inventory errors and increasing the effectiveness of restocking.

It will also help organisations in gaining the visibility they require to more accurately predict demand and streamline stock availability.

According to Oracle, all essential inventory transactions within a healthcare organisation are supported by the new inventory management capabilities.

The new mobile features include full mobile device and barcode scanning support for picking, cycle counting, material transfers, receiving, putaway, and issuing of materials across all types of stocking locations in a hospital.

Oracle said that these capabilities are suitable for stockrooms, procedural areas, and periodic automatic replacement (PAR) locations.

One of the new features is PAR management workbench which is designed to support healthcare organisations in monitoring inventory levels across all locations, forecast demand, and managing replacement.

Oracle Fusion Cloud Inventory Management now also has a mobile PAR counting app to support firms in the efficient management of PAR from any location.

Additionally, hospitals with poor internet can better track inventories at each location using the app, which when connected to the internet can start a restocking process, the technology company added.

Furthermore, the latest capabilities include a last-mile logistics application that can help enhance the efficiency of logistics management, materials delivery, and restocking. It also keeps the proof of delivery to maintain transparency.

Oracle applications development executive vice president Chris Leone said: “Healthcare organisations are under pressure to deliver a consistently high standard of care while managing costs.

“With Oracle Cloud SCM’s new inventory management capabilities, healthcare providers can improve the efficiency and accuracy of inventory management processes to expand visibility, reduce costs, and ensure the right stock is available in the right place, at the right time.”
