Novartis has joined forces with Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) to advance its efforts on the use of data and digital technologies to improve access to healthcare and medicines.

The collaboration is expected to focus on three global health requirements, including identifying and integrating complex data sources related to health.

Also, advancing the application of artificial intelligence (AI) and other technologies to the data, and expanding access to technology in remote locations.

Novartis Group corporate affairs and global health head Lutz Hegemann said: “Novartis is committed to applying its expertise and full organizational capability to address major, unresolved global health challenges.

“With Hewlett Packard Enterprise, we will seek to leverage data, digital and technology capabilities to maximize this impact.”

Under the collaboration, Novartis and HPE aim to identify and integrate various data sources to enable real-time disease insights to inform targeted response strategies.

The partnership will undertake work on developing a disease surveillance solution for dengue fever as the first case, initially in India.

The World Health Organization has identified dengue fever as one of the top 10 global health threats, which affects more than 3.9 billion people in over 129 countries.

Novartis and HPE are expected to develop publicly available insights to help fight against the growing threat of dengue fever in at-risk populations.

The real-world evidence generated under collaboration is expected to complement the drug-discovery efforts of the Novartis Institute for Tropical Diseases.
