Fujifilm Corporation has announced its plans to reorganise its Medical Systems group companies in Japan to enhance its Medical Systems business structure. The reorganisation will focus on consolidating functional roles within the group companies to strengthen various aspects, including business strategy, research and development (R&D), and sales and maintenance services. The completion of this reorganisation is expected in the summer of 2024.

One of the key changes involves the consolidation of the business strategy and R&D functions of Fujifilm Healthcare Corporation into Fujifilm Corporation. This integration will leverage the Group’s advanced technologies, including image processing and artificial intelligence (AI), to enhance the value of products and services. It will also accelerate the development of new products and services that cater to the needs of the medical field.

The domestic sales functions of Fujifilm Healthcare will be combined with Fujifilm Medical Co., a sales company in Japan for medical equipment and related products. Additionally, the maintenance service functions will be integrated by combining Fujifilm Healthcare Systems Corporation, a subsidiary of Fujifilm Healthcare, with Fujifilm Medical Service Solution Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Fujifilm Medical. These consolidations will improve the Group’s ability to provide comprehensive offerings and customer support to healthcare organizations by bringing together sales and maintenance expertise.

Fujifilm has identified healthcare as a key business field and is driving business growth in this sector under its medium-term management plan “VISION2023.” The Medical Systems business is a significant growth driver within healthcare, with the company providing high-quality diagnostic solutions globally. It offers a range of products, including X-ray diagnostic imaging systems and endoscopes, supported by the SYNAPSE medical imaging information systems, which hold a leading market share.

In March 2021, Fujifilm acquired the Diagnostic Imaging-related business of Hitachi, Ltd., establishing Fujifilm Healthcare Corporation as a wholly-owned subsidiary. The company has been actively leveraging its technologies and products to create one-stop solutions for the medical field. As part of its growth strategy, two manufacturing companies in Japan were integrated in October 2021, streamlining medical device manufacturing functions.

Through this reorganisation, Fujifilm aims to maximise synergies within its Medical Systems business, driving further growth and development. The company’s focus is on expanding the Medical Systems business by providing higher-quality diagnostic solutions, ultimately contributing to the improvement of medical care and people’s overall health.
