Zimmer Biomet Dental has rolled out iTero Element scanners and services in selected countries in Europe and is planning to expand into the US, Canada and Japan

US-based 3D digital scanners and clear aligners manufacturer Align Technology has signed an agreement with Zimmer Biomet Dental, a division of Zimmer Biomet, for global distribution of the iTero Element family of intraoral scanners.

Founded in 1927, Zimmer Biomet Dental is engaged in designing, manufacturing and marketing orthopaedic reconstructive products, sports medicine, biologics, extremities and trauma products, office-based technologies, spine, craniomaxillofacial and thoracic products, dental implants, and related surgical products.

Zimmer Biomet Dental president Pedro Malha said: “Zimmer Biomet’s aim is to offer best-in-class solutions and technology tailored to dental professionals’ needs, and this partnership with Align Technology to complement our end-to-end fully digital solution portfolio is another step in that direction.”

Align technology said that the agreement leverages Zimmer Biomet Dental’s extensive direct global salesforce and network of dental clinicians and laboratories in the distribution of iTero scanners and services in the growing digital restorative market.

In addition, the collaboration provides Zimmer Biomet Dental customers’ with access to align clear aligners through the iTero platform for a comprehensive interdisciplinary treatment approach.

The iTero Element scanners, together with Zimmer Biomet Dental solutions, are expected to deliver multiple digital workflows for dental professionals and laboratories and offer a faster and more effective treatment experience for patients.

Zimmer Biomet Dental has rolled out iTero Element scanners and services in selected countries in Europe and is planning to expand into the US, Canada and Japan from October 2019.

Align Technology and Zimmer Biomet are expected to showcase iTero intraoral scanners at the Japan Society of Oral Implantology meeting in Fukuoka, Japan and the European Association of Osseointegration (EAO) in Lisbon, Portugal.
