Successful speech about Quatrefolic in China at the New Nutrition Business & Leading Summit 2019

On 3 June Gnosis by Lesaffre participated in the New Nutrition Business & Leading Summit 2019 in China. The Italian company had the opportunity to introduce the features of Quatrefolic, a fourth generation folate.

The speech was focused on folate, one of the most common vitamin deficiencies in China and the world. Folate deficiency can cause a variety of diseases, including but not limited to: neural tube defects (NTDs), anaemia, various forms of cardiovascular disease, Alzheimer’s disease, and osteoporosis. These have become ubiquitous in the 20th century.

The human body cannot synthesise folic acid and furthermore, due to its solubility in water, the amount of folic acid stored in the human body can only be maintained at a certain level. Eating foods rich in folic acid may not guarantee adequate intake of folic acid, therefore supplementing biologically active folic acid can protect the Chinese people’s entire life cycle.

Quatrefolic, the glucosamine salt of (6S)-5-methyltetrahydrofolate, structurally analogous to the reduced and active form of folic acid, answers to all consumers’ and physicians’ concerns about the potential harmful effects of folic acid administration. Quatrefolic is totally soluble in water and guarantees a safety and high-quality stable profile, helping to maintain the right level of folate in the body.
