Honeywell has accelerated its production operations for the manufacture of disposable N95 respirators to address the required critical safety equipment

Honeywell, a provider of intelligent safety solutions and personal protective equipment for organisations has increased production of N95 face masks by expanding its manufacturing operations in Smithfield, Rhode Island.
The company said that it has accelerated its production operations to support the US government’s efforts against the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), and to address the required critical safety equipment.
Honeywell chairman and chief executive officer Darius Adamczyk said: “We are honoured to support the U.S. government’s efforts to protect Americans with personal protective equipment made right here in the United States. Our Rhode Island facility already produces industry-leading safety gear and soon will play a critical role in supplying the Strategic National Stockpile with N95 masks.”
The new production line for N95 face masks in Smithfield is anticipated to create at least 500 new jobs and is expected to start recruiting, hiring and training for the workforce immediately, said the company.
Also, the expanded production would support additional businesses in the supply chain, including industrial equipment providers and raw materials suppliers in the US.

Honeywell said that it is also collaborating with state and local officials to speed up the production efforts and support recruiting and training for workers.
The new N95 face masks are planned to be delivered to the US Department of Health and Human Services and used as a stockpile to support health, safety and emergency response workers in the US.
Honeywell has established its Smithfield production factory in 1980 and is producing UVEX-branded eye protection products, which include safety glasses, safety goggles and protective face shields.
The company offers hazardous gas detectors, safety software solutions and personal protective equipment such as gloves, protective eyewear, respiratory protection, safety suits, hard hats and boots.
