US-based non-profit health care system AdventHealth has inaugurated the Mission Control, the mega command centre to streamline clinical operations across the health care system, in Orlando, Florida.

AdventHealth is a faith-based health-care system founded in 1908, by Seventh-day Adventists, and operates nearly 50 hospitals and hundreds of care centres in approximately 12 states.

AdventHealth has collaborated with GE Healthcare Partners to develop and execute the Mission Control technology on the Orlando campus, which assists the team members in all kinds of scenarios.

GE Healthcare Command Centres CEO Jeff Terry said: “AdventHealth is such an impressive organization. Culture.Operational excellence. Wow. It’s a delight to work in their service. AdventHealth’s Mission Control will be raising the bar for artificial intelligence in service of caregivers for years to come.”

The Mission Control is aimed at organising the patient care at all nine AdventHealth campuses in Orange, Seminole, and Osceola counties, handling more than two million patient visits per annum.

The command centre technology reduces waiting time and advances care

AdventHealth said that the 12,000ft2 high-tech Command-centre is operated 24 hours a day, seven days a week by a team of more than 50 nurses, EMS and flight dispatchers, transport techs and other specialists.

The Mission Control facility makes use of artificial intelligence to inform and control decision-making in ambulance and helicopter dispatch, patient transfers between units and facilities, and prioritization of placement and treatment.

In addition, the command centre features 60 monitors to constantly display information including patient bed status, along with helicopter and ambulance status and movements.

AdventHealth Central Florida Division president and CEO Daryl Tol said: “AdventHealth is at the leading edge in deploying this technology to help provide the best, most efficient care possible for our patients. While the command centre is invisible to patients, our team of experts will be there around the clock to make sure patients receive the care they need, quickly and safely.”

AdventHealth claims that, caring for more than two million patient visits per year in metro Orlando, it is one of the largest non-profit hospitals in the US.
