Advanced Sterilization Products has launched its next-generation low-temperature sterilisation systems designed to help protect patients against healthcare-associated infections.

Advanced Sterilization Products (ASP), part of Johnson & Johnson Medical Devices Companies, has announced the launch of the new STERRAD 100NX and NX Systems with ALLClear Technology, now available in the US, and in some countries in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. US FDA approved and CE marked, the next-generation systems are designed to help central sterile services departments (CSSDs) maximise efficiency, and comply with government and facility requirements.

Cut disruption and boost efficiency

CSSDs frequently handle thousands of instruments a day, working under pressure to deliver instruments that are clean, sterile and properly functioning. Any issues or delays during the sterilisation process can cause disruption to operating room schedules and put patients in danger of healthcare-associated infections, as determined in Seavey’s ‘Nursing Lesson Plan 614: Care and Maintenance of Surgical Instruments’.

The new STERRAD 100NX and NX Systems with ALLClear Technology are low-temperature sterilisation systems that use proprietary algorithms to minimise workflow interruptions and cycle cancellations. The systems include features that simplify operation and automatically monitor conditions, providing presterilisation cycle-load conditioning, load checks and system checks to reduce operator error while improving productivity.

"We developed the new STERRAD 100NX and NX Systems with ALLClear Technology to help CSSDs deliver instruments to operating rooms faster and more consistently, providing doctors and patients with the devices they need, when they need them," says Suneel Shorey, vice-president of ASP global marketing. "These new systems are the first in a series of innovations we are introducing globally in 2017 to help elevate the standard of care in sterilisation and build on our heritage as a leader in infection prevention."

Smart technology

The new STERRAD systems are currently in use at a select number of hospitals in the US and Europe. They will be rolled out in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Latin America and Japan, as well as additional markets in EMEA and Asia-Pacific, throughout 2017.

The STERRAD 100NX and NX Systems with ALLClear Technology can be paired with ASP ACCESS, a smart information-sharing technology that immediately communicates important steriliser cycle results and system status changes to all connected ASP devices and hospital networks, and directly to staff via email or text message with cloud connectivity.

With ASP ACCESS, the user minimises the need for manual documentation and, therefore, the risk of human error. ASP ACCESS is designed to optimise processes and enhance compliance with recommended industry practice, and provide unique workflow insights.

Pioneering solutions

ASP has a long track record of designing and delivering innovative infection-prevention solutions to raise the level of healthcare and safety for those who matter most. Its pioneering technology, global distribution and established leadership position enables it to simplify the process of buying and operating infection prevention products and services every day for thousands of medical facilities around the world. This enables its customers to focus on what they do best: preventing infection and saving lives.
